Drought and high demand for power in the dry season is a risk of power shortage. To ensure power for production and life, Khanh Hoa Power Joint Stock Company (PC Khanh Hoa) has prepared a plan to respond it.

Demand higher than supply

In the dry season this year, power demand in the province is forecast to increase by 10 to 15% compared to 2019. Especially at peak time, the consumption in urban areas may increase by 30%. Civil consumption and industrial production have the highest increase in electricity consumption. Notably, in industrial clusters Trang E, Song Cau and Dien Phu VCN, a number of factories will go into operation, which will make demand for power increase higher. According to the production and business plan of PC Khanh Hoa, the company's power output in 2020 will provide for the market with nearly 2,700 million kWh, an increase of nearly 8% compared to 2019.

According to Do Thanh Son - Deputy General Director of PC Khanh Hoa, in 2019, the whole province will have 6 more solar power plants connected to the grid, helping to increase power output significantly. By 2020, there will be new solar power projects being implemented, which are expected to provide more power. If the supply has not met the demand, PC Khanh Hoa will promote the propagation of electricity saving more effectively. In addition, the company will consider ways to support the development of rooftop solar power for households to reduce pressure on the power industry.
