With the reluctance to go to crowded places avoid the Covid-19 epidemic, many people chose shopping online and home delivery instead of going to markets or supermarkets. Therefore, recently, online shopping activities became more bustling than usual.

At 5 pm on the weekend, Ms. Lai Thi Quynh Mai (No. 58 Phan Boi Chau Street, Nha Trang City) received goods from a supermarket to prepare dinner. Wth an order of more than 1 million VND, she bought all kinds of essential food and utensils, from pork, eggs, fish, tofu, vegetables, yogurt to toothpaste, toilet paper ... Ms. Mai shared, “Previously, I went to the supermarket 1-2 times a week to buy household products and every day I went to the market to buy fresh food. However, since the Covid-19 epidemic, I have avoided crowded places, so I have installed the supermarket's online shopping application for convenient purchase of goods. Every 3 days I ordered to have fresh food for family use. I think this is also an effective solution this time. After make order for 2 hours, the goods have been delivered to home.”

The online sales channel is already bustling but mainly with consumer goods such as clothes, cosmetics, watches, household appliances ... However, more than 1 month after the Covid-19 epidemic, online shopping activities have become diverse. Items from fresh food, dry goods to processed foods, drinking water, etc. have bought online by many people. This also explains why shops, eateries, markets and supermarkets have become more deserted than before.

Ms. Le Thi Ngoc Diep - Head of food department of Lotte Mart Nha Trang said that in the past, SPEEP L online shopping application of the supermarket had only received 30-40 applications / day but since the Covid-19 epidemic, every day the supermarket gets over 100 orders. Sales of this channel have also doubled compared to before the epidemic. Normally, SPEEP L has only 11 employees but recently the supermarket had to add 4 people from other departments because of the sudden increase in orders. In addition, from February 19, the supermarket also set up a group to directly call member customers about list of goods customers need and home delivery. Currently, the supermarket is implementing many promotions for online shopping customers such as discounts and gifts, free delivery in the distance of 10km, etc.

According to Vo Dinh Dung - Director of Co.opmart Nha Trang supermarket, although the supermarket has no online sales application on the phone or website, during the past time, the number of customers buying goods via the hotline number has increased 3 times (previously about 50 orders/ day and now more than 150 orders/day). To meet the needs of customers, the supermarket implemented a free delivery in the distance of 10km for all orders. Besides, the promotions at the supermarket are also applicable to online buyers such as points, gifts, discounts, etc.

For fashion stores, cosmetics, housewares ..., online sales activities are also promoted now. The owner of a baby store on Thong Nhat Street, Nha Trang City said that as the number of online customers increases, the store has to increase the staff for live stream, product video upload,  online order checking, shipping ...The revenue from online sales channel of this shop has been 2 times higher than selling directly at the store.

With the recommendations not to crowded places to prevent Covid-19 epidemic, online shopping is a suitable way to many people now.
