Therefore, in 2015, his family changed to grow other kinds of fruit trees. Initially, he grew 250 mango trees and jackfruit trees on an area of one hectare. Two years later, they bore fruits, earning their family about VND20 million. Now, they are investing and improving nearly 1 hectare of their garden to grow 250 more coconut trees and grow new kinds of trees.

According to Nguyen Vo Truong Giang - Chairman of Xuan Son Commune Farmers’ Association, basing on the decision of Van Ninh District People’s Committee on changing ineffective growing areas to growing perennial trees and fruit trees in the period of 2017 – 2020, the district has changed 7 hectares/year as planned. Up to now, about 50 hectares has changed. Some trees have adapted soil and climate of the district well like coconut trees, mango trees, jackfruit trees, etc. In addition, the commune Farmers’ Association has coordinated with departments of the districts to open classes to transfer science and technology, guide ways to prevent pest on perennial trees and fruit trees, etc.

In the time to come, Xuan Son Commune Farmers’ Association will support lending by the local Farmer Supporting Fund and suggest the district Farmer Supporting Fund supporting capital for households having demand to changing plants.
