Solar power projects: New impetus for economic development

AMI Solar Power Plant, located in Cam An Nam Commune, Cam Lam District on May 30, officially started operation. This is the second solar power plant of Khanh Hoa Province. Beside supplying power, solar power plants create jobs and impulse the development of local economy.

AMI Solar Power Plant, located in Cam An Nam Commune, Cam Lam District on May 30, officially started operation. This is the second solar power plant of Khanh Hoa Province. Beside supplying power, solar power plants create jobs and impulse the development of local economy.

AMI Solar Power Plant, starting construction on August 24, 2018, finished on May 5 after 8 months under construction. The project is built up on 65 hectares of exhausted soil in Cam An Nam Commune, Cam Lam District. Capacity of the plant is 50MWp. Its total investment is VND1,245 billion. Since being executed, the company has contributed more than VND82 billion into the State budget.

 
Nguyen Nam Thang, general director of AMI Energy Khanh Hoa Joint Stock Company, said that the plant will contribute into the local economic growth, deliver nearly VND17 billion to the local State budget annually and create jobs for hundreds of laborers. Beside producing power, AMI Energy Khanh Hoa Joint Stock Company plans to set up the solar power plant as a green energy tourist destination in the time to come. The company also plans to ask the province’s permission to survey and invest in some areas to build more renewable energy plants.

According to Luong Du, Cam Lam District Party Committee Secretary, Cam Lam District has potentials in solar power; therefore, the province has policy to gather renewable energy projects here. The projects are expected to create new impetus for economic development, expecially in enerfy field. The province will coordinate with businesses to solve difficulties to develop solar power plants effectively and sustainably. 
 
Before that, on May 25, Song Giang Solar Power Plant (in Cam Thinh Dong Commune and Cam Thinh Tay Commune, Cam Ranh) joined the national grid. This plant is built up on an area of 60 hectares with total investment of nearly VND1,200 billion. It supplies more than  80 triệu kWh/year for the national power system. It has also created jos for more than 500 local laborers, and helped local people improve living.
 
Tran Van Ngoan, deputy director of the provincial Department of Industry and Trade, said, “Solar power projects in the province have contributed much in raising power supply capacity of the grid. It’s meaningful to socioeconomic development of the province in following years. In the time to come, the province will build more transformer stations and improve lines to exploit capacity of solar power plant.”
