This year, Hai Dang Song and Dance Troupe focuses on staging new repertoire instead of creating new programs as usual. This comes from the practical requirements of art activities of the troupe and aims to better meet diverse demand of audience.

Using a variety of art forms

Hai Dang Song and Dance Troupe created nine new pieces of repertoire, including three singing and dancing performances, one dance performance, two performances of traditional music instrument, two chorus performances, and one modern dance performance. The troupe used a variety of performing arts to stage their new repertoire, which show vitality, modernity and contemporary folk. The investment of the troupe in costume, sound and light system and shaping art created a connection and harmony of art forms in each performance.

Needing some improvement

Deciding to create separate performances, Hai Dang Song and Dance Troupe showed their change to meet the requirements of innovation, promoting public contribution and developing market of performing services. This change is also expected to help the troupe be more flexible in creating programs. According to Meritorious Artist Hoang Minh Tam, the newly-staged repertoire of Hai Dang Song and Dance Troupe are separate, but when combined together, they can be considered as a complete art program. These performances will help the troupe have many quality choices to serve different audience. In order for these performances to be of better quality, the troupe needs to improve some of costumes, choreography and music.

Making assessment of the repertoire, musician Hinh Phuoc Lien said that the repertoire was well choreographed; the troupe gave good performances. Each performance has specific art idea and theme. However, it is necessary to rename some pieces of repertoire; music and props of some performances also need to be adjusted. Screenwriter Nguyen Sy Chuc suggested that the production crew pay more attention to stage arrangement. The transitions in some pieces of repertoire need to be clearer. Singers and actors need to have better expressions while performing.

In general, the new repertoire of Hai Dang Song and Dance Troupe meet the requirements of art quality. The troupe needs to make appropriate changes to the repertoire based on the assessment of the Arts Council in order to improve the quality of the performances, as said by Nguyen Van Thien, director of the provincial Department of Culture and Sports.
