2022 marks a year of effective working of Khanh Hoa artists with many new works announced and prizes.
In early October, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism cooperated with Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists to organize the awarding ceremony and exhibition of Vietnam Art Photo Contest 2022. Khanh Hoa Province’s photographer Pham Quoc Hung won a bronze prize for his work picturing coral at the sea area of Hon Chong. Pham Quoc Hung was admitted to Khanh Hoa Provincial Literature-Art Association in 2021. He achieved this high prize after five years working in photography and two years working as a professional photographer. “This success means a lot to me and encourages me to stick with photography for a long time,” said Hung.

In 2022, many other photographers of Khanh Hoa won high prizes at the domestic and international contests. For example, three photographers won prizes at domestic art photo contests; photography artists achieved 20 prizes, including trophies, medals and certificates of merit, at international photo contests. The works of 10 Khanh Hoa photography artists were selected to exhibit at the 27th South Central-Highlands Art Photo Festival held in Kon Tum Province.
In literature, although there have been fewer works published in 2022 compared to the previous year, the quality of these works were highly appreciated in terms of content, topics and ideas. The published literary works ranged from poetry, short story, novel, to essay, etc. Hundreds of literary works were published on domestic newspapers and magazines. Besides, many writers issued their own books.
Music and dance artists have composed hundreds of songs in 2022. Many professional music and dance troupes in the country selected the songs and dances of Khanh Hoa artists to participate in competitions and perform in their shows. In 2022, the song of song writer Hinh Phuoc Lien of Khanh Hoa got B Prize at the literature-art awards of Vietnamese ethnic groups; the song of artist Truong Lam obtained a silver medal at a national music festival; songwriter Phan Vu Kien Thanh, chief of Khanh Hoa Provincial Songwriters’ Association completed and published a song collection, including 70 songs about the country, the beauty of Khanh Hoa, love, etc.
Fine art artists of Khanh Hoa in 2022 participated in many contests and exhibitions in and outside the province. 25 works of 25 Khanh Hoa artists were highly appreciated at a South Central-Highlands art exhibition organized by Vietnam Fine Art Association. Painter Ngo Thai Binh was awarded consolation prize at this exhibition. Two folk culture researchers Ngo Van Ban and Vo Trieu Duong won prizes of Vietnam Folk Culture Association. Also in 2022, many artists of Khanh Hoa won medals at the National Tuong (classical drama) and Folk Song Festival.
In the year, the provincial of Literature-Art Association has organized nine field trips for its members; held book launch for literary researcher and critic Che Diem Tram; sent 14 members to a literary composing camp in Da Nang City; organized two photo and fine art exhibitions; and so on.
The provincial Literature-Art Association hopes to receive practical support from the province’s authorities to encourage the artists to continue create good works and organize activities more effectively.
