This was the first time the provincial public art festival had been organized in Khanh Son, creating a lively atmosphere for local people in the district. Nearly 600 singers, actors, instrumentalists, and artisans from 11 public art delegations of eight districts, towns, cities over the province and the units, namely provincial Military Command, Nha Trang National College of Pedagogy, Khanh Hoa Medical College, joined the festival.

The delegations performed nearly 60 performances of singing, dancing, and dramas with different subjects. Khanh Son delegation brought festive atmosphere to the festival with the sounds of traditional musical instruments (ma la, lithophone), songs and dances bearing the musical color of the ethnic people in highland area. Through the repertoire of Nha Trang delegation, the audience could see the investment of the delegation to introduce the images of a changing beach city with rich cultural and historical values and produce.
The performances of Cam Lam delegation revolved around the subject of historical and cultural traditions of Vietnam. Meanwhile, Cam Ranh delegation impressed the audience with their high-quality group performance. The amateur artists of Cam Ranh showed their good vocal techniques in this group performance. The images of life of fishermen were also reflected in some performances of Cam Ranh delegation.
The performances of the provincial Military Command, Nha Trang National College of Pedagogy, Khanh Hoa Medical College left good impressions on the audience. The repertoire of Khanh Hoa Medical College focused on praising President Ho Chi Minh. The repertoire of the provincial Military Command depicted the images of soldiers with responsibilities and obligations towards fatherlands and the homeland. The delegation of Nha Trang National College of Pedagogy performed the repertoire about national sea and islands.
Aiming to help to enrich the cultural and spiritual life of people in different areas in the province, Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Culture and Sports organized the province’s 16th public art festival at grass roots level. “The provincial public art festival was organized in Khanh Son District offered local people an opportunity to attend a meaningful cultural activity. That was also a chance for the locality to introduce local potential and specialities to tourists in and outside the province and attract them to Khanh Son,” said Cao Minh Vy, deputy chairman of Khanh Son District People’s Committee.
The organization of the provincial public art festival at grass roots level will also help to promote the public cultural and music movement at the host locality, according to Nguyen Tuan Thanh, deputy director of the provincial Department of Culture and Sports. Through the festivals, the localities can discover new faces for the local cultural and music movement.
The province’s biennial public art festival is an opportunity for those working in cultural and music field over the province to assess and review local movements. Besides the province-level festivals, the localities and units organize district-level festivals and often prepare carefully for both levels.
