Bai Choi art form is practiced in many provinces in the central region of Vietnam. After Bai Choi was honored by UNESCO, the provinces have tried to protect and promote the values of this art form. The Bai Choi art open festival of Khanh Hoa is an action to concretize the commitment to this cultural heritage with UNESCO.  The invited provinces have formed their delegations based on different criteria. Some provinces select excellent artists and actors; some provinces form the delegations with the members practicing in the same clubs.

Khanh Hoa’s Bai Choi artists and actors are also preparing for the festival and awaiting to meet and exchange with the artists and actors of the other localities. “Our club was formed at the end of 2020. We have had to suspend our operation at many times due to COVID-19. We are eager to join the festival and consider it as a good occasion to learn more about this art form,” said Nguyen Thi Thu Uyen, member of a Bai Choi club in Ninh Hoa Town.

Khanh Hoa’s Bai Choi art open festival is a main activity of the series of activities approved by the provincial People’s Committee to celebrate the Southern Liberation and National Reunification Day (April 30) and Labor Day (May 1). The festival serves as an opportunity for the localities in the central region to introduce and promote the unique folk art form of the region as well as to strengthen the cohesiveness among the localities. The festival also helps to add a night venue for cultural activity to serve local people and tourists in Nha Trang in the festive days.
