Khanh Hoa Provincial Culture-Cinema Center recently established its photography club whose members are mainly young people. Besides, the center has held some activities to encourage and support young photographers, who are interested in photography and are regarded as the province’s next generation of photographic artists.

Last year, 39 works of 37 young photographers, who had not been the members of the provincial Literature – Art Association, were displayed for the first time at the association’s annual photo exhibition. This has been a good sign for the province’s photography movement. “The works of young photographers reflected diverse views and kept up with the current trends,” said photographic artist Tran Minh Ngoc. The works of young photographers not only brought a fresh air to the exhibition but also suggested a way to attract the participation of young photographers as well as artists of other spheres.

Reportedly, in the past, the provincial Culture Center formed its photography club. However, for some reasons, the club didn’t operate effectively. After merging with the provincial Cinema Center into the Culture-Cinema Center, the center’s board of directors decided to re-establish the club. The club’s members self-manage their work and activities and take part in the center’s activities when being requested.

The photography club members of Khanh Hoa Provincial Culture-Cinema Center do different jobs; however, the passion for photography has brought them together. Another element which has helped to connect the members is that they used to be or are the current members of Nha Trang photography group on Facebook. Through the group’s weekly and monthly meetings, the photographers can exchange information, learn experience and photography skills from each other.  Joining the photography club of Khanh Hoa Provincial Culture-Cinema Center, young photographers have opportunities to join photo contests or exhibitions. They have lately sent their works to a photo contest about the beauty of Cam Lam District. The club intends to cooperate with Khanh Hoa Provincial Museum to hold a photo exhibition about Nha Trang’s beauty in the future.

Many young people in Khanh Hoa are interested in and have passion for photography. Some of them pursue a career in photography such as opening their own studio and cooperating with media companies. Meanwhile, many other young photographers have practiced photography as a way to pursue their own interest and haven’t had opportunity to develop their skills to become photographic artists. Therefore, apart from the activities of self-established groups, the quality playgrounds are a necessity in order to foster the next generation of photographic artists of Khanh Hoa Province.
