Numerous art activities taking place in Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa during Lunar New Year 2019

The cultural section of Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa organized numerous diverse activities to serve locals and tourists on the first days of the 2019 Lunar New Year (Tet).

Many of the activities focused on reflecting the traditional cultural features of Vietnam, such as performances of love duet, Ví Giặm (Ví and Giặm folk songs of Nghe Tinh Province were inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity), Don ca tai tu (traditional improvisational chamber music), and unicorn – lion – dragon dance. Besides offering incense to Thien Y Ana Goddess to pray for good things, visitors to Ponagar Temple on Tet occasion could learn how Cham artisans making potteries, weaving brocade, writing calligraphic letters, and watch Cham dances.

Khanh Hoa Provincial Traditional Art Theatre held many programs at 2-4 Square and the beach park opposite No.16 Tran Phu Street, Nha Trang. Khanh Hoa Provincial Museum organized qn exhibition of 300 objects featuring the development of Khanh Hoa over periods (potteries excavated at Xom Con and Hoa Diem archeological sites; collection of Vietnamese currency through ages; musical instruments made of bronze; and “cần” wine jars of Êđê and Raglai people); more than 100 ancient objects of Nha Trang Antique Club; and 100 works of Khanh Hoa Ornamental Creature Association. A fair selling hundreds of antiques and old things also attracted a lot of visitors during 2019 Tet holidays.
 
Hai Dang Song and Dance Troupe is the unit which often organizes many activities on Tet occasion. On the 2019 Lunar New Year, Hai Dang Song and Dance Troupe performed on the night of February 4 (New Year’s Eve), on February 7 and 9 (Lunar January 3 and 5).The programs of the troupe for Tet are often joyful music to inspire the vitality and happiness on the first days of new year. The troupe invested in costumes, choreography, and stage effects to bring audience quality performances. At the Children’s Park, locals and tourists could enjoy the art shows of Nha Trang Cultural and Sports Center.
 
Besides the art and music programs in Nha Trang, the provincial Traditional Art Theatre, Hai Dang Song and Dance Troupe, provincial Cinema Center, and provincial Museum also traveled to other localities over the province to give more Tet atmosphere to the people there.
