The cultural sector of Khanh Hoa in recent years has restored, embellished the monuments and carried out many art programs to meet the demands of tourists. Some of the monuments and attractions are becoming the typical tourism products of Khanh Hoa.

Last year, Khanh Hoa continued to invest in restoring and embellishing some national monuments and tourist attractions over the province such as Hon Chong tourist site and Doctor Alexandre Yersin’s tomb. The provincial Monument Preservation Center allocated a part of the resources gathered at Ponagar Temple to restore the degraded monuments. The tourism leaflets and brochures about Hon Chong tourist site and Ponagar Temple were released in Vietnamese, English, French, Russian, and Chinese. The provincial Department of Culture and Sports also directed the Monument Preservation Center to form groups of tourism interpreters to provide travelers with information at the tourist attractions and monuments.

The activities of foreign tour guides at the monuments were also closely supervised. The traditional cultural characteristics and products continued to be introduced to tourists at Hon Chong tourist site and Ponagar Temple, for example Cham dance, Bau Truc pottery crafting technique of Cham people, brocade weaving, display of calligraphy writings, and salanganes nest and aloe wood products.

Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Culture and Sports published a book named “Khanh Hoa’s Bài Chòi Art” and a DVD about Khanh Hoa’s culture in order to introduce the cultural and tourism products of Khanh Hoa and Khanh Hoa people to more travelers in and outside the country. The department is working on a book introducing history and people of Khanh Hoa; the provincial Museum is doing research and collecting the jewelry of Hoa Diem ancient people and plans to hold an exhibition this year.

In 2018, Khanh Hoa Provincial Traditional Art Theatre held 153 shows of “Tuồng” (Vietnamese classical drama) and Bài Chòi in front of the provincial Conference Center (No.46 Tran Phu Street, Nha Trang) and the beach park opposite Tue Tinh Street. The Department of Culture and Sports invested in equipments for performing “Múa Bóng” (the practices related to the Viet beliefs in the Mother Goddesses of Three Realms) and Ba Trao singing. The street art shows of Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa help to enrich the tourism products in the beach city. Many tourists, especially foreign ones said that they were interested seeing these unique traditional cultural shows.

In a statement, Le Van Hoa, Deputy Director of Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Culture and Sports, said that in order to provide tourists better services, the music and art shows should be held more often. It is also necessary to issue the brochures and leaflets for other tourist attractions and monuments (Mui Doi – Hon Dau, Dien Khanh Citadel, Ba Vu’s Tomb, etc.); and open training courses to improve the foreign language skills of the tourism interpreters.
