Numerous activities for preservation of cultural heritages

From the beginning of 2018, the provincial Department of Culture and Sports proposed many big schemes to preserve the monuments and heritages across Khanh Hoa. Basing on these proposals, the provincial People’s Committee issued the scheme for the construction of new provincial museum; submitted the scheme for restoration and embellishment of Dien Khanh Ancient Citadel; released the project to protect and promote the values of Bài Chòi intangible cultural heritage in the 2019-2023 period, and so on. Besides, the preservation, promotion, inspection, and embellishment of the province’s monuments were carried out effectively as planned. 
 
The Bureau of Cultural Heritage Management (under the provincial Department of Culture and Sports) instructed the localities and management committees of the monuments to ensure the safety, security, and fine custom were maintained during Am Chua Festival, anniversaries commemorating Hung Kings, and Ponagar Temple. Apart from carrying out the preservative scheme of Dien Khanh Ancient Citadel and construction of new provincial Museum, the bureau also inventoried the typical traditional cultural heritages of three ethnic groups: Êđê, Rglai, T’rin. In 2018, many important plans of monuments and heritages were executed, which would be a foundation for the future preservative schemes, according to Nguyen Thanh Phong, Head of the Bureau of Cultural Heritage Management.
 
Last year, the cultural section provided more than VND13 billion to restore 30 monuments based on the plan for the 2018-2020 period; gave VND4.1 billion to the localities to embellish 25 degraded monuments and repaired 14 monuments which were damaged by the Damrey Typhoon in 2017; assessed the design and content of eight steles of instruction placed at the monuments. Additionally, in 2018, Khanh Hoa Monument Preservation Center embellished the Memorial Monument of C235 Ship in Ninh Van Commune (Ninh Hoa Town); built the steles of instruction at Mui Doi – Hon Doi tourist site; started the project on building the temple to Tran Duong (a nobleman) in Van Ninh District, and so on.

The construction of new provincial Museum is being carried out. Last year, the museum collected more than 100 documents and artifacts; organized five exhibitions; revised and created labels for 1,000 objects; renovated and repaired the facilities of the provincial Museum.
 
As reported by Nguyen Khac Ha, Director of Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Culture and Sports, in 2019, the department will keep intensifying the management on cultural heritages; specifically focus on inventorying, preserving and promoting the intangible cultural heritages; implement the preservative schemes of the historical and cultural heritages over the province in the 2019-2020 period. In addition, the department will carry out some large-scale projects, such as preparation for the second stage of the Dien Khanh Ancient Citadel restoration project, and the construction of road leading to Doctor Alexandre Yersin’s tomb in Cam Lam District.
 
Khanh Hoa how has 16 national monuments; three national intangible cultural heritages; one Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity; 174 provincial monuments; and 56 unranked monuments.
