Many sports activities scheduled for Lunar New Year

In addition to cultural and arts programs, Nha Trang will celebrate Lunar New Year 2019 (Tet 2019) with many interesting sports activities serving locals and tourists.

 

As reported by Bao Tho, Director of Nha Trang Center of Culture and Sports, prior to the 2019 Lunar New Year vacation, a chess and Chinese chess tournament for all ages will be held in January 18-20 (lunar December 13-15, 2015); a table-tennis competition for age groups is going to take place from January 25 to 27 (lunar December 20 to 22). These are the annually-held movement sports competitions of Nha Trang. The timetable is arranged to suit the school schedule so that many pupils and students can take part in the competitions. Apart from aiming to promote the chess, Chinese chess and table-tennis movement of the city, through the tournaments, the organizers hope to discover new good players for the city’s teams.  

 

 

The unicorn-lion-dragon dance contest which is planned to take place from January 20 to 23 (lunar December 15 to 18, 2018) is an interesting activity among the variety of enjoyable activities of Nha Trang prior to Lunar New Year. The teams’ performances are expected to bring a vibrant and happy atmosphere of New Year to the audience. There are about 15 to 20 unicorn-lion-dragon teams in Nha Trang, in which the most outstanding ones are Tho Minh Duong, Minh Yen Long, Tu Anh Duong, and Nhan Nghia Duong, etc. The teams are practicing to show their unique and distinctive movements in the contest. The stunts and choreographed moves together with beautiful costumes promise to provide the locals and tourists with amusement or enjoyment.

 

During Tet days, from February 8 to 10 (lunar January 4 to 6), the human chess competition will be organized as usual by the provincial Center of Culture. This is one of the favorite activities for locals and tourists on Tet occasion in Nha Trang. In order to ensure the quality and attractiveness of the matches, the center will hold a Chinese chess tournament to select the best four players for the human chess contest. The human chess pieces will move and perform martial arts according to the instructions of these four players.
