Dong Son drum was discovered at Nhi Su Hamlet, Ninh Than Commune in 2003; after that it was preserved at Dai Cat Hamlet, Ninh Phung Commune. In 2004, the drum was transferred to Khanh Hoa Provincial Museum. Since 2007, the drum has been displayed at the traditional house of Ninh Hoa Town according to the aspiration of Ninh Hoa people. The drum has still remained intact with many beautiful designs. This drum is about 2,500 years old, as stated by the scientists. According to some historical researchers and archaeologists, the drum discovered in Ninh Hoa associated with Tay Son insurgent army.

The cannon displayed at Ninh Hoa traditional house can traverse 360 degrees. It is assumed to belong to a Spanish merchant ship which wrecked during its voyage. The ancient Gongs and cần wine jar have also remained intact. In addition, a large number of maps, documentary photographs of the places and portraits of historical figures are also exhibited at this traditional house.

Ninh Hoa Town’s traditional house receives around 500 visitors each year. Most of the visitors are the pupils from the schools in the town. There have been almost no tourists visiting this place. This traditional house is located inside the precincts of the town’s Cultural and Sports Center; therefore, it is inconvenient for people to visit this place. Besides, the limited funds for promotion are also one of the reasons this place has not been widely introduced to travels agents and tourists.

Reportedly, the traditional house is intended to move to a new place which is Ninh Hoa French – Vietnamese Primary School, a monument in the area. The new location will likely make it more convenient for people to visit.
