The typical cultural characteristics of the Whale Worshipping Ceremony and Salanganes Nest Festival of Khanh Hoa Province will be introduced to the public at an exhibition about Vietnamese culture organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in Hanoi in November.

Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Culture and Sports, Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Company and some other relating units are actively preparing for the exhibition. “This is the first time Khanh Hoa has taken part in a heritage exhibition conducted on national scale. This is a good occasion to introduce the uniqueness of the national intangible cultural heritage Whale Worshipping Ceremony and Salanganes Nest Festival of the province to many people,” said Le Van Hoa, Deputy Director of Khanh Hoa Provincial Department of Culture and Sports.

The exhibits of Khanh Hoa on the theme of “Historical Process– Khanh Hoa’s Culture of Islands and Sea” will focus on the rituals, customs of the fishermen in Khanh Hoa practiced in the Whale Worshipping Ceremony and the titles conferred by Nguyen Kings relating to this rite. Additionally, the exhibition will display the photos of the soldiers and civilians living on the Spratly Islands. Through the exhibition, Khanh Hoa will also introduce about the province’s potential in intangible cultural heritages and tourism.

At the section of Khanh Hoa at this exhibition, Khanh Hoa Salanganes Nest Company will highlight the typical characteristics of the salanganes nest industry and the company’s typical and well-known products. In order for the exhibition’s visitors to know more about the culture of Khanh Hoa, the participating artisans will perform some traditional rituals of the Salanganes Nest Festival, Ba Trao singing and manufacturing process of salanganes nest.

This exhibition is an activity to respond to the National Tourism Year 2019, taking place at the Vietnam Exhibition Center for Culture and Arts (Hanoi) from November 23 and 25. The exhibition will be joined by 19 localities which have national or UNESCO cultural heritages. In addition to the exhibits, the exhibition will include a program to honor Vietnam’s cultural heritages, cultural exchanges and folk games, etc.

As the host of the National Tourism Year 2019, hopefully, Khanh Hoa will leave a good impression on the exhibition’s visitors thanks to its carefully prepared exhibits.
