Before the accident, Cao Thi Thue was a second grade pupil at Cam Phuoc Tay 1, Cam Phuoc Tay Commune, Cam Lam District. Her family are Raglai people (an ethnic group of Vietnam) and is a poor household in the commune. On the day of the accident, Thue and her sibling were playing with each other. Thue was carrying a doll on her back by a towel. Another child from next door joined them and suddenly fired the towel. The fire badly burned her back and some parts of her body. She was saved and was carried to the hospital by her neighbors.

She was discharged from hospital after more than two months being treated at Khanh Hoa Provincial General Hospital. However, due to her family’s financial difficulties, Thue’s burns weren’t taken care of properly. Her injuries became seriously worse.

Thue was carried back to Ho Chi Minh City Children Hospital 1 thanks to the supports from some people and money her family borrowed. Unfortunately, as said by Thue’s mother, Cao Thi Duong (born 1994), they lost Thue’s health insurance card and cannot be provided health insurance benefits. Thue’s serious burns require long-time and costly procedure. Thue and her family wish to be supported by individuals and organizations so that they can afford the treatment cost.

Individuals and organizations who want to provide supports for Thue can contact Khanh Hoa Newspaper office (phone number 0258.3822019) at 77 Yersin St., Nha Trang City. The supports can also be sent to Khanh Hoa Newspaper’s bank account at Vietcombank Nha Trang (account number 0581000765262).
