Head-injured little girl in need of help

Le Thi Thanh Thao (born in 2013), living in Ninh An Commune, Ninh Hoa Town, is in desperate need of help. Thao was lately hit in a road accident and sustained brain hemorrhage. She lost consciousness and was carried to Khanh Hoa General Hospital. She was discharged from the hospital after two weeks. She was saved but still needs another operation. She also cannot return to school because of her severe head injury.

As said by Thao’s maternal grandfather Ta Van Hung, Thao’s parents divorced when she was only three months old. In order to earn a living, her mother whose name is Phuong went to Binh Duong Province to work at a garment factory. Since then, Thao has been looked after by her maternal grandparents. Unfortunately, Thao’s mother was injured in a traffic accident on the way home from work in 2017. Phuong broke her left femur and had three operations in two years. At present, Phuong’s leg still feels weak; she has difficulty in walking. Her injury requires long-term physical therapy and rehabilitation. Thao’s grandparents are having a difficult time taking care of her and her mother, who are suffering from injuries resulting from traffic accidents.

Thao’s grandparents earn a living by farming. Her grandfather is the breadwinner of their family; her grandmother does housework. They were unable to afford the treatment cost of Thao and her mother. Therefore, they borrowed more than VND100 million from the neighbors to pay the hospital fees and treatments. Reportedly, the motorcyclist who caused the injury has not visited or compensated Thao for her injury since the accident.

Thao needs to be hospitalized on October 22 to undergo skull transplant surgery. However, Thao’s family is facing a lot of difficulties in paying their old debt. Additionally, Thao’s health insurance will expire by October.

Hopefully, the readers and sponsors everywhere will offer assistance to help Thao’s family so that they can afford her treatment.
