Pham Tan Sang (born in 2012), the child of Pham Son and Nguyen Thu Thu Ha living in Phu Tho Hamlet, Phuoc Dong Commune, Nha Trang, was injured in a traffic accident in last September and is having a bad health condition.

Sang is being hospitalized at Children’s Hospital 2 (Ho Chi Minh City). As said by Thu Ha, she and her husband earn their living by catching shellfish. On September 23, they had to go out to work as usual, so they asked their neighbor to take their son to Thanh Phat Hamlet’s cultural house to get mid-autumn gift for children of poor families. Unfortunately, Sang was hit by a motorcycle while crossing the street. Seriously injured, Sang lay unconscious and after that was carried to Khanh Hoa General Hospital where he was diagnosed to suffer acute head injury causing him to fall into deep coma. The accident also broke his left leg. Sang was transferred to Children’s Hospital 2 to get better treatment.

As indicated by doctor, Sang did not need to undergo surgery. After recovering consciousness, Sang was still too weak for leg surgery and needed more than two weeks to be healthy enough for the operation. He was discharged from the hospital in early November. However, just some days after that, Sang was carried to Children’s Hospital 2 again after getting weak, having breathing difficulty and turning blue. Sang was diagnosed with respiratory insufficiency caused by tracheal stenosis which requires long time treatment process.

Reportedly, the person causing the accident offered Sang’s family an amount of money, but that was not enough for the treatment cost. Thu Ha and her husband earned much, around VND200 thousand per day. They borrowed more than VND100 million to pay the hospital fee. They now cannot afford for their son’s treatment.

Nguyen Cung, Chairman of Phuoc Dong Commune Red Cross and Head of Phu Tho Hamlet, said that the locality collected a small amount of money to help Sang’s family. Additionally, the commune’s Red Cross proposed that the Provincial Red Cross support to repair the house of Sang’s family which has been degraded. Cung also wish that Sang’s family can receive support from many people so that Sang will get healthy to continue his study.

All the supports can be sent to Nguyen Thi Thu Ha (phone number 0763591423) or the charity box of Khanh Hoa Newspaper office (phone number 0258.3822019) at 77 Yersin St., Nha Trang City, or Khanh Hoa Newspaper’s bank account at Vietcombank Nha Trang (account number 0581000765262).
